Godiva Festival

Had a mega busy weekend doing PA in the main arena for the Coventry Godiva Festival. It's my third year doing this, and it's always a great laugh...

There can't be many other opportunities when you get to deal with local radio presenters, the mayor, cheerleading squads, a stunt car driver, dog handlers, a falconer, an entire dance school, stunt men and a full-on carnival procession and evening show complete with fireworks in one weekend! - Hopefully the 75,000 people reported to have attended this year's festival enjoyed themselves too.

Happenings

Sat outside on the grass in my garden writing this at the mo - thanks to the wonders of wireless networking :)

So, what's happened today? At work, I finally got round to releasing a load of the parts for the new ventilator I'm designing. That's good by the way, because it means I'm one step closer to getting the thing into production. In other news... I bought a pair of speaker stands on eBay - wind-up ones so you can get your speakers up nice and high (to give a more uniform coverage of sound) with the minimum effort - looking forward to trying them out at Tim and Becky's wedding.

I've still got a serious amount of work to do for beach mission. So far I've planned the first 3 days worth of sessions, so that leaves another 7 to do!

Going back to the studio tonight (www.onenationstudios.com) - we're recording our new EP*. The horn section were recording on Tuesday night but there was one riff I just couldn't get right. It was so frustrating, as we've been playing the track live for ages, but I realised I'd been ghosting one of the notes. I gave up on Tuesday night as the others were getting bored of me playing the same phrase over and over again, wrong. James reckoned he could construct the riff using the bits I had played, but I wasn't too happy with that. I practiced it a bit last night and finally nailed it - so going to lay it down properly while I can still remember it.

*any good suggestions of names for the EP will be gratefully received.

In the beginning...

...there was a blog, and that blog was dark, empty and without form. It may well stay like that, but the plan is to pop in from time to time to offer some insight into the inner workings of my brain - goody goody gumdrops!
